SLIEVE GULLION WHEELERS HAVE HAD A TREMENDOUS YEAR ON THE BIKE CROWNED OFF WITH THE APPEARANCE OF THE KING OF THE ROAD SEAN KELLY ATTENDING THE CLUB’S ANNUAL DINNER AND PRESENTATION NIGHT.
DEATH OF CLUB SPONSOR SEAN HEARTY
Little did we know that Sean Kelly would be back in Creggan and Cross on New Years Day to pay his last farewell to Club Sponsor Sean Hearty RIP of Sean Hearty Transport and Hearty Oils. Sean along with ten other cyclists had travelled the length and breath of the country to be at his funeral. Sean, after his football days were over took up the cycling and was a well known member of Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin, fundraising cycle team and travelled with them on many overseas cycle trips to South Africa, Canada, America, Argentina and Hungary to name a few. Even though he hadn’t been on the bike for a few years his cycling colleagues didn’t forget him. Once you met Sean you never forgot him. He was a truly great man. The best of a chap. We in Slieve Gullion Wheelers knew Sean as the best of the best. He was always there for you to help you in any way at all possible.
