It is with sad regret that we learn of the tragic death of Dave McCall a member of Maryland CC. Dave was a larger than life character who has cycled all his life and won a bronze medal for N.Ireland in the Commonwealth games. More details on his achievements on www.cyclingulster.com. If you haven’t heard the news Dave was killed at a club cycle race last night on the Dunrod (Airport) road. Apparently he was in a group racing when a dog run into the bunch and cyclists moved to the right and Dave being on the outside moved crossed the white line and was fatally hit by a passing car travelling to the airport.

Many of us from the club and members of other local cycling clubs knew him well as the organiser of Sportactive trips to Majorca. He was well liked and will be sadly missed. Sincere sympathy from all of us to his partner and family.

If anyone wants to get themselves kitted out for whatever reason; maybe you lost weight and want smaller stuff or maybe the stuff you have is not complete. Maybe you want a thermal for the winter.
Anyway, Kevin is putting an order together in the near future. Send an e-mail to Kevin Kenny or Danny McSherry or Sean Morgan. We do need a minimum quantity to place an order but we don’t anticipate that being a problem.

The date is definitely set for Saturday 30th August 2008 in The Mountain House. Hope you know where this is. It’s about half way between Newry & Newtownhamilton.
The BBQ will be up and running at 7.30 or thereabouts. There’ll be live music in the lounge.
We would love to see as many of you as we can. Do come along and support the club. Meet the cyclists. Talk shop if you want to. There’s always something to learn no matter what age you are.
By the way, this is a Pay as you Go event.
